Premier Quality Blinds in Peakhurst

Holland Blinds are one of the most cost effective and effiecient types of window coverings. They are traditionally known to be made with spring operation but today, most blinds are wanted as chain operation. There are many different trims available and also a choice between different types of ring pulls to operate them. The main advantage with chain operation is that the blinds can be stopped exactly where you want it to stop. Spring operated blinds will only stop in certain positions and will often need to be pulled down past the window to enable you to get privacy. The chain operated blinds are manufactured standard with nylon chain. Stainless steel chain is also available as an optional extra. The nylon chain, brackets and components are available in white, black, birch and beige.

Menai Blinds always use where available and practical, quality Australian made components and fabrics. There are many different fabrics to choose from, which include blockout fabrics, translucent fabrics to allow light to filter through but still give you privacy or Sunscreen fabrics as mentioned below. Click on the following fabrics link to see our most popular fabric ranges: FABRICS

More trims and colour options are available than what is shown here below, but these four are some of our most popular finishes.

The Blind above is a Plain Trim (Pocket Sewn along the base of the blind) It is Chain operated with White nylon Chain.

Sunscreen Blinds are exactly the same as Holland blinds but made with Sheer see through fabrics and are usually always made with chain operation. There are many fabrics on the market but our most popular fabric would be a fabric called Uniview from Uniline Australia It has an openness factor of 5% which means it consists of 95% fabric and 5% of holes. When chosing a Sunscreen fabric, please note that a dark colour will be easier to see throught than a light colour as a light colour reflect more light, making it harder to see through. This is why flyscreen mesh is always black.  Click on the following link to view information and colours on two of our Sunscreen Fabrics.

The main disadvantage to Sunscreen blinds is that while you can reduce the heat and glare during the day and still see outside, it offers no privacy during night time when the lights are on inside your home.  This is when a double blind may be required which gives you a Sunscreen blind during the day and a blockout fabric during the night.

Another option to operate Holland & Sunscreen blinds is with either a hardwired or remote controlled electric motor. Menai Blinds give you the option of two different brands of electric motors. Somfy is known as the industry leader with these products, but we are finding Alpha brand of motors now to be our most popular.  Alpha motors have a 7 year guarnatee and come with an elegant looking remote transmitter and wall bracket. Both brands of motors fit into our standard rollers and brackets so everything matches if some blinds were motorised and if some were not.

Click on the following Logos for more information:       More information on Alpha motors can be found at:

The picture above left shows how effective the Sunscreen Blinds are. The sun is behind the post, so you get a good idea of how much glare it reduces. The pitcure on the right shows the same blind, but from outside looking in.  This fabric has an openness factor of 10%.

Holland & Sunscreen Blinds may also be linked together with a common bracket so that one chain or motor may operate several blinds together.  (This is a great feature over sliding doors as it eliminates the need for a chain on at least one blind.) It also reduces the gap slightly between the two blinds. This option is also available with the Standard Dual Roller Bracket system as below.

Menai Blinds also offer an effective Double Bracket system often referred to as Day/Night Blinds. This enables you to reduce the glare during the day with a Sunscreen fabric, while still being able to see outside, and also have a Blockout fabric to stop people looking in at night. (Any fabric that enables you to see through during the day will reverse at night with the light on inside and enable people to see in.)  We can supply fabric offcuts upon request for you to take home and hold them up to ensure you are getting exactly what you want before they are installed.

The Compact Dual Roller Bracket as pictured projects out from the wall 100mm but the chains or motors must be on opposite sides.

The Standard Dual Roller Bracket projects out from the wall 115mm and the chains or motors can be on either or the same sides.
